Why a Virtual Address Matters
A virtual address is more than just a mailing solution—it can protect your privacy, add professionalism to your business, and help you not miss important mail.
Activation and Next Steps
You'll be able to purchase your Virtual Address when filling out your LLC application.
Once you select your Virtual Address, activation is required to begin using it.
This process ensures that your virtual mailbox is verified and ready to receive mail on your behalf.
👉 Important: Your LLC must be completed before you can start the notary process.
If your LLC isn’t yet formed with the state, you won’t see any actions or alerts and won't be able to proceed with the activation.
To activate your Virtual Address:
1. Complete the Notary Form
Once your LLC is completed, you can access the Notary Form directly from your Tailor Brands dashboard:
Log into your Tailor Brands account.
Click LLC on the left-hand menu (or top right on mobile).
Scroll to the Virtual Address & Mailbox section.
Click on "Complete Notary Form"
This gathers your ID information to authorize the virtual address provider to receive and manage mail on your behalf. You'll be asked to provide specific information, and two types of ID - a Photo ID and a Proof of Address) to complete it accurately. Please note that this is required for each signer, and all signers must be physically present in the same session.
Please note that we cannot accept documents notarized outside of our system. To ensure full compliance and security, the Virtual Mailbox can only be set up through our Tailor Brands platform using our verified electronic notary partners. No other notarization methods are supported.
Please note that we accept the following Proof of Address:
- U.S. Driver’s License or U.S. ID Card (if using a passport as Photo ID)
- Current Lease, Mortgage, or Deed of Trust
- Home or Vehicle Insurance Policy
- Vehicle Registration Card
- Voter Card
In addition, the Proof of Address must be written in English, clearly state your name (matching the one on the Photo ID), include a valid address (street, city, state, ZIP, and country if non-U.S.), show an expiration date (if applicable), and clearly state what type of document it is. If the ZIP code gives an error, try to enter the address with no spaces.
To complete notarization, all documents must be uploaded and verified directly with the Tailor Brands notary platform. This allows us to securely attach your notarized documents to your form and have them promptly reviewed by our team.
2. Notarize the USPS 1583
This previous step will generate a 1583 USPS form and you’ll be connected to our online notary to validate your form and the details you provided.
This form authorizes a third party, such as a commercial mail receiving agency, mail forwarding service, or P.O. Box, to receive mail on your behalf. This form grants the U.S. Postal Service permission to send your mail to another party. To complete it, you must provide identification, the agent’s details, and have the form notarized.
Please note that a notarization fee and a possible signer fee applies and is separate from your subscription cost. This fee covers the cost of verifying and witnessing signatures on legal documents. This notarization ensures authenticity and understanding of the document being signed.
3. Approval & Confirmation
Once your form is notarized by the online notary, your documents will be reviewed by our team for approval. This process typically takes up to 3 business days. Keep in mind that your virtual address will only be set up after you complete the new notary session and all of the documents are reviewed and accepted by the team. Be sure to upload the same documents you used to fill out and confirm on your questionnaire. Once approved, your mailbox will be activated and fully set up and you’ll receive an email confirmation.
You’ll be able to view and download your mail directly from your LLC dashboard, by following these steps:
- Log into your Tailor Brands account.
- Click LLC on the menu.
- Scroll to Documents → Virtual Mailbox.
- Hover over each document to view or download your mail.
From this dashboard, you can navigate to different sections to see your updates and access your mail - all in one convenient place.
If you’d like to review the notary process in more detail, please refer to our Notary Guide.
