When submitting the Annual Report for your LLC in Texas, you will need to provide your Texas webfile number, which is crucial to proceed with the filing.
This 6-digit number starts with "XT" and is provided by the Texas Comptroller. If you're unsure where to locate your Webfile number or are having difficulty finding it, here’s a guide to help you.
What is a Webfile Number
Your Webfile number is a unique identification number assigned by the Texas Comptroller for filing your LLC’s tax-related documents online. It is typically printed on the upper right corner of the tax report documents you received from your Registered Agent. This number is essential for completing your Annual Report and ensures that your filing is properly linked to your business.
How to Locate Your Webfile Number
The easiest way to find your Webfile number is by referring to the tax report documents sent to you by your Registered Agent. The number will appear in the upper right-hand corner. If you don't have these documents on hand, don’t worry – there are other options available to obtain it.
What to Do if You Can't Find Your Webfile Number
If you can't locate the tax report documents or the Webfile number, you can obtain it by contacting the Texas Comptroller's office. Here’s how you can do that:
Option 1: Calling the Texas Comptroller
Call (800) 442-3453 – This number is available 24/7.
Provide your 11-digit state tax ID number (not the federal tax ID).

Follow the prompts:
Option 1: Confirm your tax ID.
Option 2: Re-enter your state tax ID if it’s incorrect.
Afterward, you'll be asked if you’d like the Webfile number mailed to you.
Receive your Webfile number: The Comptroller will mail you a new letter with your Webfile number, and you’ll be ready to proceed with your Annual Report filing.
Option 2: Requesting Via Email
You can also reach out by email if needed. Simply email webfile.help@cpa.texas.gov and request your Webfile number. Make sure to provide your 11-digit state tax ID.
What if My Webfile Number Starts with 'FQ'?
If your business is newly formed, there’s a chance that the number you received begins with FQ instead of the expected XT. This is normal for new LLCs. In this case, you can contact the Texas Comptroller's office to obtain your official Webfile number starting with XT.
Once You Have Your Webfile Number
Once you’ve successfully obtained your Webfile number, you’ll be able to proceed with your Annual Report filing. This ensures that your report is properly filed with the Texas state authorities and that your LLC remains in good standing.
