What is a NS record and how do I add an NS record?

NS stands for ‘nameserver,’ and the nameserver record indicates which DNS server is authoritative for that domain (i.e. which server contains the actual DNS records).

NS records tell the Internet where to go to find out a domain's IP address.

A domain often has multiple NS records which can indicate primary and backup nameservers for that domain.

Without properly configured NS records, users will be unable to load a website or application.

When you change your NS records you change NameServers, this will affect how you need to access your DNS records.

Here is an example of an NS record:

If hosting DNS with with us, the NS records needed for your default DNS is configured automatically and cannot be modified.

However, you can add custom NS records in order to point a specific subdomain host to a different set of nameservers, which can then allow you to manage DNS for the subdomain further on another DNS service.

To add an NS record to a domain purchased with Tailor Brands, go to the Domain Advanced Settings

And add NS record according to instructions provided to you.

Note: Always make sure to remove "http" before adding NS records.
If you attempt to add nameservers like this, you will receive an error:

http://ns-z29ttbz2gd.dnswnd.de/
http://ns-31x09c31ed.dnswnd.be/
http://ns-99ji3o99fd.dnswnd.eu/

In order to add NS records successfully, please remove all redundant things and add
records like this:
ns-z29ttbz2gd.dnswnd.de
ns-31x09c31ed.dnswnd.be
ns-99ji3o99fd.dnswnd.eu

If you are looking to change your default NS records and change who hosts your DNS records, instead of adding new records, scroll down until you find Nameservers and click Change. Here you will be able to modify the nameservers according to your website provider's instructions

Please allow up to 48 hours for your DNS changes to take full effect globally.

Note: If you change default Nameservers this will affect the automatic integrations we offer for your Domain.
